Bikers For Babies - Sept. 30 - Pointe Orlando Well, the Bikers for Babies ride was awesome. I must say, these rides are always a bit of a tear jerker for me, and I will tell you why. Now before any of you hardcore bikers get pissed off at me for I am about to say, please read and listen carefully. The thing I like about these benefit rides is that all of the bikers come together for a common cause. Now stereotypically (and I am not the one casting stereotypes here. I am talking about the common stereotype cast on bikers from way back) bikers are the last ones you would think would lend a hand to someone in need. (Again, please don't confuse this for my personal opinion, you all know what I mean). Then, when you see thousands of bikers come together, and unite, from all walks of life to help out, well it is pretty emotionally moving. When the thousands of engines fired up today for the line-up, I could almost hear them saying "We are here, and we are here to help". That gets me kinda misty eyed every single time. The looks on the peoples faces that we pass on the street are priceless... It just goes to show one thing. Bikers have changed over the years, and so has the sport of motorcycling. As one of our guys pointed out today (sorry, I don't remember who it was) it used to be that if you had a bunch of bikers together, it was hell raising, bar fighting and keg floating. Times have changed and today was a perfect example. Not that it doesn't still happen (boy I can't wait for Biketoberfest) but it isn't necessarily standard protocol anymore. Though I must say, there is still something to be said about doing 80 mph in a 45 mph zone, running countless stop signs and red lights with cops on every corner just waving and smiling at you as you go by. Kinda makes you feel invincible. I would like to thank everyone from our group that showed up today in support of the March of Dimes. For all of you that didn't make it, YOU SUCK. We also picked up some new people that will hopefully ride with us soon. See you next time, Rob
