Fearless Art's Wilderness Adventure - Nov. 18th

I hope you like the title, because that is what I've decided to call today's ride. We met at the Orlando Ale House on Kirkman Rd at 10:00 this morning. From there we decided not to do any of the programmed rides for today, and just venture out on our own. Art was equipped with his strategic, pin-pointed directions he had scribbled on to a couple sheets of a calendar, and we were off..... (We should have known better)
The plan was to check out a few roads that Art had never been on. The roads less traveled, if you will. Well, we found out that the roads less traveled, are usually less traveled for a reason. As we came down and around this beautiful road, we get to the top of a hill, looking down across the valley, and the pavement ended. There was no more pavement in sight. All we could see were fields of orange groves and dirt (sand) roads going off in several directions.
Art said, "my map said this comes out on 27"..... 27 orange groves maybe, but not highway 27. Art was sure this was the right way, so we decided to be brave, and take our bikes into the unknown. We followed the road for a few miles, until it came to another four way intersection. Still nothing but orange trees, and dirt roads. We stopped so Art could double check his directions. We had a dirt bike and a four wheeler come by, and there we sat on big, heavy road bikes. I just knew one of us was going to dump it out there in the sand, but we didn't. And finally, we did reach 27, and went on some more beautiful roads.
We ended up in the town of Bushnell for lunch, where we ate at the Cross Traxx restaurant. What a great little place that was. Put that on your list of "must-do's" whenever you go through Bushnell. Get the burger.....
On the way back, it was one beautiful road after another. The weather was beautiful... We only hit a small pocket of rain that lasted about 5 minutes... We ran for cover, and everyone stayed dry. This was probably one of the nicest rides we have done yet. I forgot to take my camera, so there are no pictures on the website about this ride. For those of you that missed it, next Sunday Art will lead us again, and we are sure to have another great time.

See you there,
Rob
